Learn Timeseries Forecasting with Phoebe

How machines predict what happens next

The craft behind every plan that looks forward - next week's web traffic, next month's demand, next quarter's cash-flow - explained end to end. A leader track that makes every method click in plain English (with a visual for each), and a builder track that implements them in real Python: decomposition and baselines, exponential smoothing, ARIMA/SARIMA, Prophet, gradient-boosting, and a look at deep models. You even drive a live forecaster in the browser. And the whole team pipeline - analyst to data scientist to engineering to monitoring - laid out so you know who does what.

The leader track 🤝 · for PMs, product & business leaders · 6 x 45 min · no code, ever

Thinking mode: what a forecast really is in plain English, the ladder of methods and when each fits, who on the team does what, and how you judge whether a forecast is any good - each session ends with the questions to ask your team.

The builder track 🛠️ · for analysts, data scientists & engineers · 10 x 45 min · Python + a notebook

One running series, Lumen's daily web sessions, threaded through the demos: you implement each method in real Python and follow one forecast from the analyst's first plot to a monitored production model.

Forecasting foundations

The datetime index, resampling, the honest time-based split, and the seasonal-naive baseline every model must beat.

Decomposition & baselines

Pull a series apart with STL, then ship the family of baselines - naive, drift, and seasonal-naive - the lines to beat.

An honest note on forecasting: a forecast is a probability, not a promise. This course teaches the published canon - the FPP3 textbook (Hyndman & Athanasopoulos), the Box-Jenkins ARIMA method, and Prophet (Taylor & Letham 2018) - and always carries a prediction interval, never a bare point. Deep models (DeepAR, N-BEATS, TFT) are surveyed and cited, not trained from scratch. The live forecaster is real math on a small teaching series, not a production engine - and its lesson is the field's oldest: beat the simple baseline or do not ship.

Choose your path 🗺️

Two doors, one course. Leaders get the concepts and the pipeline; builders implement every method in Python - and both meet at the live forecaster.
