Learn AI Research with Phoebe

Two tracks into research a hostile reviewer cannot dismantle

AI made reading fast and made being wrong fast too. A summary arrives fluent, confident and stripped of the one thing that decides whether you can act on it: how good the evidence underneath actually is. This course is about that layer. A leader track gives research and insights leaders a shared evidence standard, the failure modes to design against, the consent and confidentiality rails, and a way to decide on AI-accelerated evidence without pretending it is the same as slow evidence. A researcher track runs one real decision end to end - should Cadence build a lecture-notes product for higher education - through question framing, tiered search, screening, extraction, contradiction and replication checks, synthesis, and a memo with an audit trail. A live evidence lab runs the audit for you: ten claims, twenty-two sources, real rules, and a climb from 0 to 9 surviving claims. Note what this course does NOT own: catching fabricated citations is the AI + Law course's job. This one is about whether a real source actually supports what you wrote.

The leader track ๐Ÿค ยท for research, insights & strategy leads ยท 6 x 45 min ยท standards, not tools

Judgement mode: what genuinely accelerates in the research pipeline and what only appears to, the evidence standard your whole team must share, the documented failure modes of AI-assisted research, the consent and confidentiality rails around participant and client data, how to stand up a stack, and how to decide - and defend the decision - when the evidence arrived fast.

The researcher track ๐Ÿ”ฌ ยท for analysts, academics, UX & market researchers ยท 10 x 45 min ยท no coding needed

One running decision, taken through the whole pipeline: should Cadence build a lecture-notes product for higher education. The evidence lab climbs 0 โ†’ 1 โ†’ 2 โ†’ 4 โ†’ 7 โ†’ 9 surviving claims as the levers come on, and b10 does not ship a memo until every load-bearing claim survives the audit or is honestly marked unknown.

๐Ÿ”„ Researcher 1 ยท easy

The researcher's AI loop

Question, gather, screen, extract, challenge, synthesise - and the audit that decides whether any of it holds. Start at a humbling 0 of 10 claims surviving.

โ–ถ Researchers start here
โ“ Researcher 2 ยท easy

Decision, question, claims

Work backwards from the decision to claims that could actually be false - the single change that makes everything downstream checkable.

Rung 1
๐Ÿ—‚๏ธ Researcher 3 ยท medium

Search strategy and source tiers

Search on purpose instead of accepting what ranked first: databases, query design, and a tier system your team can apply without arguing.

Rung 2

Screening at scale

Inclusion rules written before you look, dedupe, retraction checks, and AI-assisted triage that stays auditable - plus why more sources can make you worse.

The anti-lever explained
๐Ÿ“‹ Researcher 5 ยท hands-on

Extraction tables

One row per source: sample, measure, number, page, funder. The unglamorous artifact that makes a synthesis reproducible - built with AI, checked by you.

Rung 3
๐Ÿ”ฌ Researcher 6 ยท the heart

The evidence lab

The signature session: run the hostile-reviewer audit on all ten claims, read every failure rule, and learn which failures are fatal and which are just a qualifier away.

โ–ถ Audit it live
๐Ÿงฎ Researcher 7 ยท hands-on

Contradictions and statistics

Go looking for the source that disagrees, then read numbers properly: effect size versus significance, intervals, publication bias, and what replication really tells you.

Rungs 4 and 5
๐Ÿชก Researcher 8 ยท hands-on

Synthesis you can defend

From extracted rows to a narrative with confidence language that matches the evidence - and disagreement kept visible instead of averaged away.

The hard writing
๐ŸŽ™๏ธ Researcher 9 ยท hardest

Interviews and coding at scale

AI-assisted transcript coding without laundering your own assumptions: codebooks, agreement checks, saturation, and the quotes that must stay verbatim.

Qualitative rigour
๐Ÿ† Researcher 10 ยท hardest

Capstone: the research memo

Assemble the whole thing - question, tiers, screening log, extraction table, contradictions, replication - into a memo with an audit trail, and pass the audit.

Ship it at 9/10 + one honest unknown
easy - everyone medium hands-on / deciding hardest
