Git under the hood
The one mental model that makes every command obvious: git stores snapshots and moves pointers. Install, configure, and make your first commits by hand.
π Session 2 Β· foundationThe daily loop
status β add β commit β push/pull as muscle memory. Remotes, .gitignore, commit-message hygiene, and the undo toolbox in safe tiers.
πΏ Session 3 Β· coreBranches + PRs from the CLI
switch -c, push -u, and PRs via gh pr create. Trunk-based flow, the review deep half - request changes, suggestions, CODEOWNERS, draft PRs.
βοΈ Session 4 Β· coreMerge conflicts without fear
Why conflicts happen, reading the markers, resolving in your editor. merge vs rebase intuition, plus stash and cherry-pick as surgical tools.
π€ Session 5 Β· stretchActions authoring
YAML anatomy - on, jobs, steps, uses, run. Write real CI that lints and tests every PR, use the marketplace, read a failed run's logs.
π Session 6 Β· stretchShip like a professional
Tags, releases, and semver. Branch protection that makes the green check a gate. Auto-deploy Pages on merge, and the professional-repo scorecard.
Choose your path πΊοΈ
Everyone starts at Session 1 - the snapshot-and-pointer model carries every command afterward.
β What this course is
The real terminal workflow: git from the command line, branching, PRs via gh, merge-conflict resolution, Actions and CI you author yourself, releases, and branch protection. Everything a builder needs to run a repo the way engineers do.
β What it is not
Not the browser-only basics - those live in the non-tech track. No Copilot / AI pair-programming (AI-literacy course, coming). No CodeQL / security scanning (security course, coming). Boundaries kept on purpose.
